The Walsh County Career Builders (WCCB) provides matching funds to help local businesses attract and retain talent through a scholarship and student loan repayment program.
The committee includes members from North Valley Career and Technology Center, City of Grafton, City of Park River, Walsh County Commission, and the Walsh County JDA.

• Agree to work in Walsh County for 3 years, residing in North Dakota during this time period.
• Meet all rules and requirements for the ND Career Builders Program
• Work in an eligible high demand career field as required by the ND Career Builders program if applying for the state match
• Must have earned any degree or certificate and hold a balance on a student loan
• Not receive funding under any other state-funded student loan repayment program
Scholarship Recipient Requirements:
• Agree to work in Walsh County for 3 years, residing in North Dakota during this time period.
• Meet all rules and requirements for the ND Career Builders Program
• Enroll in a designated ND college and maintain the required GPA
• Repay scholarship dollars if the terms of agreements aren’t met.
• Sign a legally binding Scholarship Award Agreement
• Participate in a program that are at the associate’s level and below, or other programs up to and including bachelor’s degrees that are not longer than 4 semesters or 6 quarters that relate to a high-need occupation.
• Scholarship amount will not exceed cost of attendance for program of study after other scholarships and grants are applied. The total amount may not exceed $17,000.
This informational session occurred on April 20, 2022 at Park River City Office (North Dakota) to give the public more information about a new program being offered in Walsh County. ND Career Builders is a program managed by the State of North Dakota to help employers retain and attract employees. Walsh County wants continue that and work with local businesses to provide 50% of the private match needed for the program.
Walsh County Career Builders held an informational session on August 17th, 2022 at North Valley CTC for businesses to learn more about the program.
