When Should You Call 9-1-1?

  • Breathing difficulty/Shortness of Breath
  • Choking
  • Chest Pain 
  • Electrocution
  • Poisoning/drug overdose
  • Uncontrollable Bleeding
  • Vehicle or Bike accidents with injury
  • Seizures lasting longer than one minute
  • Vomiting of Blood
  • Prowler/Strangers trying to get in the house
 

Do NOT Call 9-1-1 for things like:

  • Road/Travel information
  • Severe Weather Information
  • Repair for household appliances
  • Car repair (flat tire)
  • Complaints of excessive noise
  • Littering
  • Pets up a tree
  • Legal Advice
 
 

When 9-1-1 Should Not Be Used:
9-1-1 should not be used for such things as reporting non-injury accidents, calls for information, or for reporting things that do not require an emergency response. 9-1-1 is not to be used to call to obtain phone numbers for different phone listings.
